Support Crane Festival

ANNOUNCEMENT  The Tour Operators
Subject: Opportunity to show your Corporate Social Responsibility
Sir/Madam,
The 13th Annual Black-necked Crane festival in Phobjikha will be celebrated on 11th November 2011 in the courtyard of Gangtey Goenpa. The festival is organized by the Phobjikha Environment Management Committee (PEMC), a committee comprising the local community, government offices and RSPN.

Unlike most festivals in Bhutan, which are sponsored by the state and are of religious significance, the Crane Festival are purely targeting towards the tourists (local and international) with the view to demonstrate to the local community the benefits of conservation. The festival is funded through the PEMC fund and in the past few years also through the generous support of H.H Gangtey Treulku and a few Tour Operators such as Bhutan Birding and Heritage Travels and Yangphel Adventure Travel. In order to ensure the sustainability of the Festival, RSPN is embarking on a Fund-raising drive by involving the Tour Operators to become a partner of the local community in organizing the festival through sponsorships of banners, events, etc. It is common knowledge that more than any other business entity, tourism is one industry where the image (brand) of the company is of utmost importance and RSPN is taking advantage of that fact to provide the opportunity for Tour Operators, especially those that have clients attending the Crane Festival, to announce their presence in the valley and thus demonstrate their Corporate Social Responsibility as explained below. For those companies that have guests attending the Crane Festival, imagine how proud your clients would feel if they see/notice their local host as a sponsor of the festival! On the contrary, if your company is not listed as a sponsor, your clients would perhaps feel guilty that they have chosen to travel with you and you may be viewed as a company only driven by profit-oriented motives. In this regard, RSPN is inviting Tour Operators to sponsor various banners as listed below. These banners will remain in the courtyard of the Gangtey Goenpa for three days (10th, 11th and 12th November 2011). Alternatively, you can also sponsor program items during the actual Crane Festival. The tour operator’s logo, company name (including your off-shore agent) and if you desire and logistics permitting even your group name will be reflected on the banner along with the Conservation Slogan (Tour operators are welcome to come up with your own slogans as long as the message is a social nature and related to Phobjikha). For those opting to sponsor program item, your company’s name will be made before and after the performance and also reflected in the program sheet.
