Southern Civil Society pre-COP16 preparatory meeting in session

7 September, Mexico City – The Southern Civil Society’s  representatives are currently attending a four-day preparatory meeting for pre-COP16 in Mexico City from 7th to 11thSeptember 2010.
From the overview agenda and objectives presented at the opening session on 7th September by the organizers, the meeting will prepare to how the CSOs in the South can develop and agree on common strategies to present at the COP16. 
It will help to develop stronger capacities of the key individuals within the CAN’s southern regional and national networks on the issues of climate change policy and sustainable low carbon development pathways that are suited to local needs and recognize the imperative of the south-south cooperation and deliberations in the run up to COP16 in Cancun. With the first day focused on Context Settings and Mapping Real Expectations, the following days of the meeting will be focused on Developing Common Goals and Tactics, Way Forward and Mexican Government and NGO Dialogue and on Developing Messages and Communication Skills for Delivering Messages to Media. 
It is being organized by CAN International, Green Peace International  and WWF in collaboration with Presencia Ciudadana Mexicana (PCM) in Mexico.
