Chubbachu Stream Cleaning Campaign – December 28, 2017

The Royal Society for Protection of Nature successfully carried out the eighth monthly cleaning of Chubachu stream on December 28, 2017. The adoption of the stream was expected to curb stream contamination and improve the mindset of proper waste management. However, dumping of waste was still observed to continue despite the adoption of the stream and community awareness on waste management.

Moreover, sewerages and toilets outlets were still drained into the stream. Although the stream has been cleaned on a monthly basis bringing some positive change in the mindset of the people but it is still disheartening to see the amount of waste collected was roughly same in all the cleaning programs. Since we cannot do it alone, we request the general public to be responsible in maintaining our environment clean and healthy. A total of 120 kilograms of waste was collected during the campaign.
