Art and Essay Competition for Students

ANNOUNCEMENT As part of creating awareness and sensitizing youths on Climate Change and its impact, the Royal Society for Protection of Nature will organize a theme-based Art and Essay Competition in 2014 for students. The last date of submission of entries of art and essay is 17th May, 2014.

The debate on climate change continues to rage. Consistently we are urged to think globally and act locally, and yet there are a significant number of climate change deniers presenting alternative arguments to the issue; from the highest government offices to political campaigns and from college campuses to scientific symposiums. An inconvenient truth is – Global Climate Change is Manmade. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Since its establishment, Art and Essay Competition has been one of the key initiatives undertaken by the Royal Society for Protection of Nature. And to commemorate the 60th Birth
Anniversary of The 4th Druk Gyalpo, RSPN is organizing the Art and Essay for 2014 as detailed below.

Rules of Essay Competition:

1. No entry fee, contest is open to students of Bhutan from classes PP – VI.

2. All postage and associated costs related to the competition will be the responsibility of the individual/institution.

3. The Art medium shall be in crayon in A4 size paper.

4. The art has to be original work of the artist.

5. It should carry the name of the author, date of birth, class, Address, Mobile number/Telephone number and e mail ID (if applicable).

6. Entry should be an individual effort and not a combined work.

7. Entries are to be ‘Marked Art Competition’ on the envelop and submitted via post addressed to:

8. The entries will be judged by the organizers with the help of three independent juries appointed by the organizer. The judges’ decision will be final. 

9. Winners will be declared on 2nd June 2014 and cash prizes for the winning arts will be paid through Cheque/Draft/Money order in the name of the winner.

10. RSPN holds the rights to cancel any entry without any prior information and clarification.

11. Winners will be notified via media such as BBS, Kuensel and by e-mail.

12. A list of prize-winners and the prize-winning arts will be published in RSPN website.

Important Dates:

  • Information to be send to schools through Dzongkhag Education Officer: 25 March 2014.
  • Last Date for receiving Essay: 17 May 2014.
  • Essay assessment by Judges: 20 – 28 May 2014.
  • Declaration of Award Winners: 2 June 2014
